WIAA state baseball preview: Reedsburg’s game is no joke

louis vuitton outlet The Beavers (17-8) will play in the state tournament for the first time since 1973 when they meet Eau Claire North (20-3) in a WIAA Division 1 quarterfinal set for approximately 3:30 p.m. today at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute.Reedsburg is home of the first nationally sanctioned Little League, established in 1951, and it takes its baseball seriously. But the Beavers know how to have some fun, too.Schommer chuckled while telling a story about Wafle, who dyed his hair blond earlier in the year and became the recipient of a fun-loving prank that drew smiles all around.

He wears his helmet high anyway, but when he took off his helmet off after practice, his blond hair had this black streak and he looked like a skunk,” Schommer said.“The kids were asking him what was wrong with his hair and he thought they were kidding him. But when he brushed his hand through his hair, his hand was completely black. They thought it was eye black,  so they started putting it on sunglasses. They’d take their sunglasses off and there was black here and there and everywhere.”

After all, when you are making the program’s first trip to state in 38 years, you want to make sure it is a memorable ride.“All of us are buddies and friends. We get along well and none of us have anything against each other. The way we bond with the coaches is great. Coach Schommer is an awesome guy,” Wafle said.Although Reedsburg is one of the smallest schools in Division 1, Wafle said it doesn’t matter.
